So my tech unpinned my bridge on my PJ so I can better intonate my Compton bridge. I plan to use double stick tape to hold the bridge in place. I remember reading on this forum that's that Setzer does. I've also read on this forum that some folks use rosin.

My question is which works best in your experience? And what brand or types of tape/rosin do you recommend? If I go the tape route what's the thinnest two sided tape one can find?

I have every one of my guitars with floating bridges secured with double sided tape. (7 Gretsch guitars and one Epiphone ES295.) Some say it deadens tone. I've heard no evidence of that from any of my guitars. As for rosin, I've heard several who use it say cello rosin seems to work best.

I used a SMALL amount of double sided tape on my 5422 and it did not change the tone at all and completely stopped the bridge from "floating". I emphasize SMALL AMOUNT. I wish I had kept the package so I could give you specific information but I purchased at Home Depot and it was the two side tape used to hold the plastic sheeting in place that people put over their windows in the winter. It's extremely thin and the width is a perfect fit for under the bridge.
If you PM me your address I'll put 8 or 10 inches of it in an envelope and mail it to you.

Tonally I've found that there's practically no difference but rosin is really easy to clean off whereas the sticky residue from the tape can be a right pain in the arse. Easier to apply too. Quick swipe across the bottom of the bridge and you're done. No contest.

You may mean Gorilla Tape. I bought a lifetime supply at Home Depot. It is very thin, about the thickness of a sheet of paper. I use the same strings all the time so intonation is something I like to do once. This tape sticks very well and there is zero effect on the sound

Thanks for the help gang. I bought to rosin yesterday and will give it a try. If I have any issues I'll upgrade to super thin tape @Robbie and @Tony56x55 were referring to. Appreciate the help!
