Aluminum nut lube

What is a good lube to go on the aluminum nut and saddles of my 6120 VS 55 Chet Atkins? It is still playing wonderfully after the tech worked on the nut. Is there a specific lube that works better on metal or one made specifically for metal parts? I was looking at the different ones on Sweetwater and wasn’t sure what to go with. The tech suggested a D’Addario lube but I can’t remember the name of it.

Another vote for graphite … however, another great alternative is synthetic bicycle chain lubricant. Usually a bit easier to source and control application as well.

I have some spray graphite lube, but you can make your own with a sharpened pencil and a file.

When I was in high school, we had locking drawers for our shop projects, and my key broke off in the lock. Fortunately the lock was in the unlatched position, so I ground up some pencil lead, actually graphite, and the key came out with a couple of taps.

You can get tubes of powdered graphite at hobby stores - used frequently for lubricating the wheels of Pinewood Derby Cars.

I like Tri-Flo - has teflon in it. You can get a little needle dispenser that lets you seep a tiny bit exactly where you want it:

Dr. Duck’s Axe Wax. I put some on the saddles. One bottle lasts a really long time.

Just be careful when changing lubricants. Sometimes the old stuff doesn't get along with the new stuff, and the resulting goop will do the opposite of what it's supposed to.

That stuff is better on a sandwich or crackers anyway.
