@thunder58 I've seen film of these in use in the 20's 30's and 50s actually, but you say this is only 30-40 years old??? I would have thought they'd have quit making them long before the 60s or 70's.

I bought some drum stuff, several pedals, an amp and two guitars this year. The amp might be the most useful of the bunch, but amps never inspire a lot of love from me. It's hard to fall for a box, at least for me.
So I'm going with the two Gibsons, a brand new SG and a used J-35. Both of them are a blast to play. Brings my Gibson collection to three, I've had the Les Paul for 20+ years.

Oh wow, I totally forgot about my G5230 I got this year, so this is actually the gear of the year for me as I bought it for my daughter.
My Art & Lutherie Roadhouse Parlour. It's fabulous for the couch and the campfire, and you can never have too many blue guitars!
(Edit: sharp eyes will notice that the bridge saddle is installed backwards.
I was so excited to get the guitar home that it took a couple of hours before I spotted it and flipped it around. Ah, the joys of pawn shop guitars.)

I bought 4 smaller items in the last 2 years, no guitars.
Joyo Bantcab + Celestion TF1018 speaker upgrade, Celestion Alnico Cream speaker, J.Rockett A.P.E. pedal and Demonfx King of tone clone.

I've got three pieces. The biggest gear item this year has been my first Gretsch. This has really been an inspiration and has raised my level of play exponentially.
Next is the Loop Station pedal (and the home-made addon box to start and stop) This pedal has really been a useful motivator as well. I really love being able to put a chord progression in and improvise over it, or record a rhythm part at a slower tempo when trying to learn a lead.
Finally, the BYOC Tube-Screamer-Type overdrive. Adding several modifications really made this a versatile pedal - especially for the Gretsch, where I just add a touch of gain and run the tone up full. I rarely use the crunch in my amp any more and just keep it set on clean / edge of breakup...and use the pedal to click into and out of the grit. Love it!

I'd have to say my Taylor GS Mini-e Koa is my gear of the year for 2021. I still can't get over the incredible tone from this little guitar.

My favorite gear of the year was purchased previously, but has been de-mothballed and returned to active service. ‘67-8 Gibson ES-330.

I’m having a hard time remembering when a year started and stopped. Been that way for a year and a half now. I believe I got the Guild Stratford this year, but that may be the second one. The first i had to send back as the fret board was uneven, the photo of this one says January, so its technically this year. Then i painted the pickup covers, so new guitar again. I also got the G5034tft up to where I wanted it, with a acoustic pickup that works and a different color pickgaurd. Oddly they may be on the block again so i can fret over some other unaquired instrument. The Rancher 12 was this year, with new pickgaurd. I also put a deposit down on a custom built octave mandolin in blue. It was supposed to be done by now, but independent builders run into the same problems that the rest of us have. It night still make it here by the 31st.

Indeed! Love that's its made just a few miles from home. It's the TT800. Would have gotten the Mesa 1x15 Subway cabinet too but they were all back ordered. But I'm very happy with the Bergantino 1x12. This rig makes me realize how sloppy a bass player I am.Wow Henry a Mesa Bass amp too
