Toughie....My favorite electric Gretsch as far a "look" goes would be the 6120, and it sounds great in the hands of a Pete Townsend or a Poison Ivy. My favorite acoustic Gretsch would be the G400 Cat's Eye arch top, And I've got both the 6120 and the G400, but in the end I keep reaching for my New Yorker because it is easier for me to play, I love the tone, and it feels good. I love my brass resonator too, for the same reasons. They get the most time and attention.

It would be this 6120N New Nashville. I saw one, and had to have one. I then went on a search.and this closet queen showed up at Walt Grace. It is worth more to me than any Stern or Custom shop. We all have our opinion. With the original 2001 Filtertrons, CTS/Switchcraft upgrades, it has as fast of a fretboard as I have ever played. The bridge is pinned, and has the 3 hole base. Allows for a perfect intonation. The anti feedback bracing, the thin body (1.7" I think), and Filtertrons gives it a unique tone. A little bright, a little dark, a little sweet and raw, but unmistakably Gretschy.

I had a 55 orange with tv tarmonds. A silver Annie pe. Sold them. I still have a green Setzer signature but my best and favorite is a limited edition blue Falcon with the Ray butts. Don’t know why. Everything about it is amazing. I’m still not bonding with the Setzer in 10 years.

My favorite Gretsch "that I own" is my '03 Gretsch Axe!!!
Killer!

Addendum: My favorite Gretsch "that I don't own (yet) is probably a 70s Gretsch Roc Jet, non-black!

One day it’s my ‘59 6120, and the next day it’s my ‘57 6191 Streamliner.

My non-guitar player friends say that they look similar, yet I say they’re very different in overall sound and feel: DeArmond vs Filter’Trons, no trestle bracing vs heavy trestle, etc., etc.

They have a really nice synergy between them. It would be really tough for me to pick a favorite.

Ahhh, never pass up an excuse to post some Gretsch pics! ...

I got the double cut Falcon last spring. By all rights it should be my new #1. But I've had the 6120-60 for more than 20 years. You don't kick that out the door just 'cus there's a new kid on the block.

So I'll call it a tie! Both pretty fine instruments ...

( I've replaced the Falcons's Bigsby arm with a Chet Arm since I took this pic. Looks even better now! )
