Hello. Would like advice on upgrading a G5230 with BT Filtertrons and a G5220 with BT Humbuckers.

I would like to know which pickup gives the most “bite”

    TV Jones T-Armond

    TV Jones T-90

Or maybe these Single Twin Mini’s from Duesenberg

I am curious what you think about hese!

I don't have any experience with T-90's but I do with dynas/T-armonds and they are bright, realy bright so that would be my pick but... depends on what style of music you are playing, what other instruments you are playing with and a few other variables but they would be my pick.

I find the BT FT in my 5230T to have a fair bit of bite but quite the same as a single coil.

Other option would be a new tele :)

THX, Yes the BT Filters in 5230 are very good, but in the shop they let me try a 61xx with the other filters and then there is a difference.

By "bite" do you mean attack? T'Armonds have slug magnets like Fender pickups which produce a crisper attack. T-90s have bar magnets and pole screws like humbuckers and have a smoother attack.

Oh yeah with out a doubt a difference between those, another option would be a set of Gretsch HS Filtertrons then, they can be had new for a reasonable price or used for cheaper again, they may have been what you tried in the 61xx.

Those Duesenberg pickups look interesting, but i have no experience with them (or the others- YET). The Duesenbergs are officially on my radar now.;)

They already were in my Rally, but both TV Jones and Gretsch sell them.
They’re quite different from T-90 or T-Armonds but still they have a lot of attack, although more similar to a low-impedance single coil (think Strat, or bridge Tele) than a big-coiled pickups like those two. They’re not as powerful, but sure they bite. On high gain setting situations, I prefere them over Dynasonic because they are less “glassy” and over P90 because they are less muddy.

Well I asked for the pickups with the most "bite". For example you could play Link Wray on them:)

You answers were different. Many mentioned DeArmonds and I think, although I am a P90 fan I should have experience with DeArmond.

I can tell you I have bought a jet with DeArmonds now and will install P90's on the 5230. Pictures to
follow and thanks for the advice!
