Hey guys and girls, I have a few questions on some guitars and I need to decide on it quick haha. Anyways let me tell you about me first.
    I currently have
    -Yamaha AES420 electric guitar
    -Washburn D10SCE electric/acoustic guitar
    -Taylor 214ce
    - Casio CTK900 (61 keys) keyboard
    -TAMA Swingstar drums

I'm currently majoring to be a music teacher so you can see why I have all that haha.
I've recently viewed a video and the guitar had a gretsch g5435t guitar. My reaction was wow, that guitar has great tone. Lets research this. After doing several searches, my interests in the guitar grew immensely. I started to crave other gretsch guitars and I've pinpointed a few guitars but still haven't decided yet. I went to a guitar shop to see if they had a g5435t but they only had a Gretsch G5420t.
When I held that baby in my hands, I fell in love.
I did research on that guitar and then I saw another guitar that looked just like it called a g5422t. Now comes the weird question for you guys.

I understand the g5435t is way different from the g5420t and the g5422t but please help me make up my mind.

Why should I choose the g5435t over the other two?
Why should I choose the g5420t over the other two?
why should I choose the g5422t over the other two?

and what is the main difference besides the cutaways with the g5420t and the g5422t?

Go ahead and shoot me in the face since I cant decide!!!!!!

If you want a solid body guitar go for the 5435, if you want a single cut hollow body go for the 5420 and if you want a double-cutaway hollow body go for the 5422. Also, there will be factors like available colors, etc and you may want to take the price of the ones available to you at the time in mind... From what you wrote here, I say its really down to the 5420 and 5422. It just sounds to me like you bonded with that one and thats always a good thing.

I purchased a 4520 back in January. It is my first Gretsch and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Took a few days to get the set up on my amp right for the guitar but now that I have the guitar just oozes tone and character. I would thoroughly recommend that you get the 4520. You won't be disappointed at all

I would get the G5420. I have a Pro Jet, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.

However, my bigger hollow bodies (Annie, Black Phoenix, G3155) have a cool mid range bark/bit that the Pro Jet doesn't quite have.

And, the bigger bodied Gretsch guitars look cooler!

Note that the 5422 is 1/2 inch less deep than the 5420 (2.25 in vs 2.75 in deep). I like the extra resonance that the 5420 has.

I always consider what I'm wearing for a given gig to help me choose which Gretsch I'll play. A black Duo Jet or White Penguin are always appropriate for formal wear. Gretsch Orange goes great with jeans.

Good to know; I never even looked at the specs on those, I just took it for granted they were the same width. Thanks.

So the 5422 is thinner than the 5420? I do love a lot more resonance in my playing. My yamaha isn't cut out for that.

Try to play as many as you can before you make up your mind. You wouldn't marry the first girl you ever went out with, would you?

A very good reason to own more than just one Gretsch. I'll get myself another 5420, a formal black one. Really good, indeed.

Don't pass up trying a Gretsch 6119 Tennessee Rose with Filtrons and walnut stain. That is my 1st choice or a 6128 Black Duo-Jet. I have them both and I love them.....

Always, always buy the one you love. I was trying a lot of guitars in the store today, from cheapies up to about $2200. Most of them just went right back on the wall (including the $2200 one). But in that series of tryouts, two guitars just started playing themselves.

THOSE are the ones worth talking about.

+1 for the Tennessee Rose! If you're patient, you can find a used Tenny or Anniversay for just a little more than a new 5420/5422. They're both great guitars, and worth every penny! :D

True! Unfortunately I can only manage to find one store that has the g5420t and no g5422t or g5435t :/
