Which Gretsch or G-Style bridge pup will get that desired classic Gretsch tone ?
Could you be more specific there? Broadly speaking:
TV Jones Ray Butts -- About as vintage sounding as it gets.
TV Jones Brian Setzer Signature -- Brian Setzer after the Stray Cats.
TV Jones Classics and/or Gretsch HS Filtertrons -- May as well be considered the modern classic sound.
Then there are the DynaSonic sounds. Everything from Duane Eddy to Billy Zoom...
TV Classic/Classic Plus or HS Filter’Tron
If you wanted über vintage you can go for the TVJ Ray Butts, but in that case, I’d get a set instead of just a bridge.
I never play with the neck.
Then I’d go with a TV Classic or Classic Plus.
Which Gretsch are you putting it in?
Since this is the "vintage" section of the GT site... I'll state the obvious. Get a vintage DeArmond Dynasonic or Filtertron, and you'll be positioned well to get that vintage Gretsch sound (from the source!).
