Where Does the Comma Belong?

    In Dutch it’s very common to use “and/or”. Somehow I seldom see it in English. Is the use of a “/“ in punctuation frowned upon?

    I have not payed attention to how much I see/hear it used, but *I* use it all the time...

    It is used pretty often but I don't see it much used in formal prose. We certainly use it regularly in correspondence and even legal docs. It literally translates to "and or or", but I never see that usage.
