Normally I’d say AC/DC or Hendrix but today I feel like some Massive Attack or Goldfrapp. Not sure why, haven’t listened to them in decades. Maybe it’s the weather.

Years ago while in music school I worked with a school that was hosting an all-state band concert that played the 1812. The conductor decided to simulate the cannons with 12 gauge shotguns fired into 55 gallon drums (shells opened and emptied of the shot, of course). I had the distinction of conducting the "cannons"....it was awful. They ended up having a midrange-tinny sound....and toward the end when the cannons really let loose, the wads were ricocheting back onto the main stage into the performers.

We used to host the local symphony and choir for the 4th of July at our outdoor hillside amphitheater and bandshell. The crowds was estimated at 30K. Fireworks right after the Overture. The Uni offered it to the city while their facilities were under reconstruction. Before 9/11, the Army Guard would show up with 4 155mm howitzers. Overpowered the orchestra a mite. The concussion from the howitzers' blast could be felt all the way up the hill. Made me glad I wasn't in the artillery while in the service. At least with the 12 gauge, your timing was probably better.

And, yes, that'd be a great piece to hear on a massive sound system.

    Mic check, mic check.

Preferebly while the drummer and guitarist are making noise in the background, louder than the vocalist, for extra atmosphere.
