Lou,

Happy to say my guitar bucket list is full.

Looking forward to the day when my wife's stroke recovery is complete, and she's fully mobile again...getting closer every day.

Speaking of buckets, wondering lately what's going to happen to my wonderful collection, when I ''kick the bucket''

Best,

BIB.

I've had an ongoing wish list, mainly in the form of saved alerts on Reverb, and a few of those have been answered lately.

One was for a Gretsch 6122-62, which come and go all day on the used market, but not always at a great price. I wasn't really partial to mutes or sans mutes, I just knew I likely wouldn't use them. I did want a Country Gent with Imperial tuners, some years of production not having them.
I think I waited the better part of 2 years before finally pulling the trigger on one, an '04 model. The timing was right.

Another recent find, after some prolonged patience, was a Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster. Again, a guitar that seems to be readily found on the used market, although they were selling at a premium while out of production. Once they started shipping again, the demand on used models dropped again, as did their price.

I do already own a beautiful G6122-59 Country Gentleman, so landing the '62 model was really me being a big George Harrison fan, scratching that Beatles itch. That being said, I was surprised at how thrilled I was to finally have one. It is an iconic and gorgeous guitar. So very Gretsch.

I don't have any holy grails or rarities on my list (thankfully), and I'm not strictly into vintage gear. I always have my eye out for older Epiphones, and I like the old Greco Les Pauls. Specifically I have my eye out for a clean 70s gold top with P90s. Not as common as the other EG models but they do pop up on occasion.

.. in the meantime, here are a few pics of the aforementioned finds;

I just want to be debt free and have some time to focus on just projects and practice. Time for me to do what I want instead of what everyone else wants.
I changed my mind. I won’t be dissuaded from a White Penguin, an Ellis F style mandolin, and a Custom shop Martin! Ok I can still dream a bit, it just took a few minutes to remember how!

An area I have been to probably been to 10 times. I was in my mid 40's the last time I was there. Its abit too strenuous to attempt in my 70's. This is what it looks like in the spring. At the bottom of the rapids big walleye and northern pike stack up in the currents. The left side of the picture is Canada, the right side USA. There are small pools along 1/2 mile of rapids that have pan sized walleyes and smallmouth bass.

Hey Freshy,

I turned 73 in May and being an avid scuba diver, I was really looking forward to strapping on my rebreather and see what the 2022 diving season had to offer.

My wife very lovingly is trying to tell me my diving days are behind me...all of them...She just may be right!

Best,

BIB
