Hoodoo Gurus are one of my fav aussie bands and this was possibly their biggest ever hit from the 1987 "Blow Your Cool" album https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoodoo_Gurus

The Gurus featured guitar driven rock often using Gretsch with Matchless amps.
Their lyrics were always smart and whitty similar to Steely Dan so listen to the lyrics.
The Gurus are still going strong in Aust and their 2010 album "Purity of Essence" was a ripper.

This is my 3rd cover of a Gurus song. I've also done "1000 Miles Away" and "I Want You Back".

My version has Doug Parks vocals. Mike Dennis drums. I play bass, guitars, keyboard and recording production. Gretsch Jet 6131 and SG guitars were plugged to a Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 amp mic'ed to a 1x12 closed cab with Celestion Creamback.

    Play Loud :)

I saw them live in Helsinki in 1980s. Great live band.

Those are great songs. (Let's all) turn on is my favorite. Lyrics basically list songs they like :). Like wow - Wipeout is great too.

And I just realized they will play in San Francisco next year. Lol, what band isn't still touring? If they are alive, at least some of them :D

BTW there were few other AU bands of interest in the same time frame. Saints of course, one of my favorites and was lucky enought to see them live twice. Eastern Dark could have become real interesting but the singer/band leader unfortunately passed in a car accident or something.

Then there was Exploding White Mice and another one who's name I guess would violate the policy here. I just say that the first word starts with H and second one with O.

Chris Bailey did this solo project What We Did on Our Holidays which is a real feel good album.

yeah I like the Saints too but prefer all those other bands music wise.
Plus they all made many high quality albums and had long careers :)

Did you know that Saints guitarist Ed Kueper has had a successfule solo career.
He's still active now and has released many good albums

I'm more familiar with Men At Work, Little River Band, and The Seekers.
Never cared for the Bee Gees.

Saints made quite a few albums. Though in the end is was more Chris' project but that still was good music.

The only album I own is Today Wonder, never found any other ones in France. And in fact, I found it in Italy, in a second hand vinyl store.
    That's a cool album.
