I've picked up a bunch of songs that I play instrumental and sometimes accompanied by my (poor) vocals. Since I'm not part of an active band, I'm always looking for great songs that are good for stand-alone guitar. I'm sure there are great picks from the universe of this Gretsch Forum. I'd love to hear them.

My current 3 favorites to play are:
    - "Sleepwalk",
    - "I won't stand in your way",
    - "Cavatina" (the complete version).
    - Maybe also "Since I don't have you"
    - Oh, and Blue Shadows from the Three Amigos:)

The rest of my songs are also favorites, just less favorite!

What are your absolute favorites to play? (I'm looking for dozen or so new favorites)

My favourite all time song is another girl another planet by the only ones, I bought it on vinyl in 1979 played it to death and I've always had it in my acoustic set then in 1992 the only ones reformed and needed a lead guitar player so I had to learn both solos and off I went to London for the audition with 90 other guitarists, I played it pretty well I think but didn't get the job, but I did get to play my favourite all time song with the man who wrote it, twice. The solo kicks the song in and is so uplifting, great tune

I used to play Trambone pretty well on the acoustic but I'm having a hard time working the Bigsby into it.

The one I learned most recently. That would be "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring".

Please don't laugh, but one of my favorites is Moonglow. I'm nearly 61, and this song is old even for me, but it was a favorite of my parents. So I remember asking my guitar teacher to teach me how to play it when I had first started to take lessons at about 13 or 14 years old. It was too advanced for me at the time and I really could not play it well - just sort of hacked through it. But I still remember the look on my dad's face when he heard me try, just because it did it for them. Some things in your youth you never forget. I think I run through this song every time I pick up my guitar. Then I think of my dad, long gone now, and smile.

Note: sorry for any confusion here - I originally replied to the wrong post.

Nicley said Markc and so very true. I think of my grandmother everytime I hear Bill Haley, she saw him in 1969 and often told me about it. Stuff like that will never leave your mind, and always make you happy no matter what.

On an acoustic, with nylon strings (wide string spacing?)? Beautiful, and hard song.
