Crème de Marine. A Falcon is too big for me, but I’d love a Falcon Jr. in this colour.
I tested the white BD Falcon against mine with TV Jones Classics and True Arc aluminum bridge and the BD just sucked in comparison sound wise. But I admit, I hate Blacktops. Other than that, I think both are beauties
If only that one had the vertical headstock logo. Fabulous colour
I like Falcons that aren't limited...
There was this Black Falcon I owned back in the day (I think it was the 2006 Gretsch catalog) ... one of my friends owns Tom Petty's Black Falcon and I was able to A/B them. To me this was the player but definitely didn't have the vintage feel of Tom's. I also have a luthier-made White Falcon from the 90's that I have changed the tuners, Bigsby and had ivory inserts added to the roller bridge (between the saddles) to keep my right hand from ratcheting them and snapping strings.
Yeah, I’ve never actually played a BD Falcon. I think they look cool, but I’d be hard pressed to find a Falcon I like more than my 2004 6136T.
I’d love to try one someday though. I know the Blacktops in his Falcon are not the same found in Electros. Well, definitely not the bridge pickup. It’s based in a Tron Seymour Duncan built for him in the 80’s to compete with his les pauls on stage output wise. Billy doesn’t seem to ever use anything other than the bridge pickup on his Falcon.
I have the white one. Absolutely killer rock machines (though hardly limited to that). FWIW, I own and adore TVJCs, but these pickups do things the Classics can’t. I love ‘em.
Really dig your profile pic. Seems like John Lennon's still alive and well, only a longer beard after all these years
Black Birds ain't too bad either.
Here's my Black Falcon with vertical logo and feathered inlays. I think they were only made for a few years.
I'd love to have one of the Red Falcons that came out within the last few years.
All of them.... but I think the Blue or the Aztec Silver falcons I saw.
I quite like this 62 double cut LTD run too.
Man, I would love to have one of these to go with my white one of the same era.
Gold rules, silver drools!
Aztec silver falcon? This would be cool, tried googling it but nothing came up?
It was a Music Zoo exclusive from sometime ago. I saved a bunch of photos but can't find them. Only bad thing about it was that it was relic-ed.
I found some pinterest fotos though.
Yeah is a great colour combo, I'm with you on the relicing, I know some people love finish checking but in this case it just ruins that one in my opinion.
These were nice:
That’s exactly, what Billy Duffy wanted, pickups optimized for overdrive. Downside is a sub par clean tone.
But from the looks, it‘s one of the most beautiful Falcons with silver instead of golden hardware and binding.
