This was so awesome! One of my childhood heros goes to space and returns home with tears in his eyes.
Maybe someday there will be a Starship Enterprise. I can see naming one of the vessels Shatner.
    Congrats to William Shatner!

That is great. While I think Blue Origin is little more than a Bezos vanity project (unlike Space X, which is the real deal I think), it was great to see someone who inspired a lot of people with thoughts of things beyond our planet tearing up. He's also in great shape and mentally clear for someone 90.

The Star Trek connection was first made when they named the first (prototype)NASA Space Shuttle the Enterprise. Sadly, it never went to space. It had to be something for Shatner. More power to him for being able to handle that at 90. I bet he'd wished for more than a 10 minute ride.

Sadly, his line of lingerie never sold well. No one wanted to buy Shatner panties.

  5. Beam me DOWN, Scotty!

I think it was a nice ride, and it was also fabulous PR.

You shoulda written his lines after he got out of the capsule!
He did have a line or two beforehand.

I felt a little anxious for Bezos who kept hanging on a long while as Bill went on & never really produced a nice soundbite as he was apparently overwhelmed by the experience.

    “Can I get a do-over?
I didn’t dare look out, in case that creature was back on the wing.”

    At 90, guts of steel!

    Hats off to Shatner!!
I am more of a Spock/ Nimoy fanboy but really I was overwhelmed by the achievement!!!

His bucket list HAS to be complete? Not only a hugely successful career, but an American icon as Kirk, and now he goes to space.

    It's a good thing he wasn't wearing a redshirt. :D

My wife, and to some extent I, watched the Netflix docuseries on the Inspiration4 mission and it was noticeable how little Elon Musk is shown or mentioned. I think he was there at the start of it, but that was pretty much it. I'm sure he's a publicity hound when he needs to be, but I get the impression that he does know when not to make it about himself.
