Currently working on my old 5120. Installing some Filtertons and replacing the bridge. To fit the filtertons i did some modifications to the pickup cavitys, first i glued in some solid ash blocks (I had some scraps) to the underside of each pickup hole to create small shelves, then i attached some wooden bars underneath the pickups that will sit on top of the shelves. i used some self adhesive compressed rubber that i bought a roll of from Amazon and attached these under the wooden bars to raise the pickups. Im now just waiting on some gold pickup bezles to be delivered so i can finish it off! I upgraded the bridge to a Gotoh Nashville that has locking saddles so you get zero rattle. I couldn't afford TV Jones pickups or Gretsch pickups but i found some great cheapish filterton style pickups from Allparts, they look the part and sound great! 86185717_600340337287220_1947376998510755840_o.jpg 86176944_600543830600204_8951283127053975552_o.jpg

Nice job! I am curious, why you chose this method versus an English mount pick up? Seems to me that the English mount is much easier

Hi Mate, the pickups i have dont have the side tabs, they are only made to screw direct to the body like traditional Filterons so i couldn't use the EM method.

Cool! I use the same bridge. Compared to the Gretsch Electromatic bridge the post hole spacing seemed off by a few hundred um so it did fit but it sits very tight. Had to slightly force it on the posts. Maybe a good thing... The nuts on this thing are not deep (they are rather marks) and need to be filed down.

    Cool!

How do the pickups sound, have you tested them in any way?

Got any measurements, DR resistance and maybe inductance...?

Hi, I stuck a set in a tele build and thought they sounded great so got a set for the Gretsch, they measure around 4.5 in the neck and 5 in the bridge so pretty low output

    Here's some idea's for you @britrocker1981 . This is my old 5120 with mods . I miss it and I'm sorry I sold it . It was a 2007 . Mods :

    Bigsby B6 w/ V cut
    Duane Eddie Handle
    Jack Plate
    Rocking bar bridge
TV Jones Classics bridge / neck
    TV Jones wiring harness
    Custom engraved truss rod cover
    Sperzel Locking Tuners
    Strap Locks
I would go back and forth with a Clear or Silver Pick Guard

Think my next job will be to change the machine heads. Already fitted a new bridge and bone nut

They are from Allparts, pretty inexpensive but sound good. Cant afford TVs at the moment so will stick with these for now. Its pretty hard to find decent Filterton style pickups in the UK that dont cost a fortune, these seem to be the best ive been able to find at a decent price.
