I have a falcon jr that has a headstock break that I've been looking to get fixed for a while. Seems most luthiers in London are either too busy or just haven't gotten back to me, but two have: Tim Marten (Denmark street), and Feline Guitars (Croydon).

Has anyone ever used either before? I'm currently torn between the two. Tim Marten seems like more of a known quantity, has more info available etc, but I can't get past a couple of reviews I saw online that said their guitars were returned with new dings.

Feline guitars' reviews are impeccable, but their website (https://felineguitars.com/pages/price-guide) doesn't really mention more involved work, which also makes me nervous.

I have no experience of Tim Marten. Feline are very well regarded and make
superb guitars but my only experience of using them was disappointing to be honest. Another to consider is Charlie Chandler at Hampton Wick just outside London. He's really good.

    * Also recommend Gordon Wells in Byfleet.
Gordon is the son-in-law of sadly departed and well respected guitar builder, Dick Knight, who passed on his skills.

Thanks all! I've seen a lot of other recommendations online for Charlie Chandler too. Originally I sort of discounted him since he's quite far away and I had surgery recently, but looking more closely, I don't think there journey is too bad. (and even if it wasn't, I think at this point I'd want to wait until I could go anyway). I think I'll give him a shot.

    What was disappointing?

I personally haven't used them but my cousin has had a bass built by Feline Guitars ,he was happy with the experience.

It wouldn't be right to go into detail publicly. As I said, Feline is well regarded and has had very many happy customers. In any business things can sometimes go wrong and I'd like to think that my own experience wasn't representative of their normal service. If you think it would help you to know more I could do that by PM rather than here.

I've had work done and guitars built by Charlie Chandler since 1980. He's top of his game. Unfortunately too distant for me to get to him easily now but I do luckily have a very good guy near me in Kent.
