Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Rob, married with a couple teenagers, and have been playing guitar and bass since I was a teenager.

I love the sound of the bridge pickup on my Tele, and was looking for something with some more acoustic presence than my 335. So it came down to Rickenbacker and Gretsch, and I'm going with a Gretsch.

The fun part will be trying to decide which Gretsch model will suit me best.

    Take care everyone!

Welcome. There's a great group of folks that hang out here.

Gretsch is a disease. You'll find out that it's hard to stop needing (wanting) just one.

Best of luck deciding and welcome aboard.

Welcome FM. Good luck in your journey.

Gretsch has so many great models to pick from it's hard to decide but you'll know when it's in your hands ;).

I'm getting ready to work over a new Tele (my first soon). Can't wait.

A Ric or a Gretsch, tough call, it comes down to neck preference for a lot of folks. Both will sound amazing. You did not mention if you are thinking 12-string. In any case, 6 or 12, Ric, Gretsch, or Tele, take a look at the JangleBox JBX, it is an amazing 2-stage combo: compressor/boost, treble boost, and a clean boost circuit. Your Tele will thank you, and either the Ric or Gretch 6 or 12 string will be happy with it as well. Come twang or chime.

    Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!
That "Great Gretsch Sound" got all of us.
    It's all about the twang!

Where in the Great Lakes are you? I grew up 20 miles East of Lake Michigan, and have family all around the Big Lakes.. Nothing like the Rust Belt.

Which Gretsch....Wow! You have a lot of choices from entry level to custom shop, from fully hollow to Jets, single coils to Humbuckers, modern styling to vintage styling, Bigsby or no Bigsby! In each of those previous categories you have a host of choices.

Then after ya pick one you can just play it or start modifying it like some of us do. That is really the Gretsch sickness on steroids

Have fun with the decision process. Sheltering in place is going to slow down trying them out, but the reality is it can be hard to find examples of some to try out.

    Welcome
