Terms that drive you crazy

    It isn't? Really it isn't?

    'Key/lock' can also be easily described as functioning in a 'male/female' sort of context. 'Piston/valve' doesn't relate in any way I can see to the fitting of electrical or plumbing connections, (not to mention 'valve' being an electrical term already taken,) though 'piston/cylinder' gets a little bit closer. The others require memorizing an arbitrary terminology, which is unnecessary with the use of 'male/female'.

    It's traditional because it's immediately apparent which is which, requiring no real thought or memorization.

    I could do without "for days" or "in spades" to describe anything guitar or tone related.
