This is about terms used to describe guitars that drive you over the edge.

My most unfavorite one is: "Plays Like Buttah" YEEOOWWWWW!!!! I think I'll drink battery acid

That one drives me nuts too.

I have thoughts of a greasy, crud layered fingerboard that smells like a diner kitchen.

Puts me out of the "buying mood."

I'm not too fond of "whammy bar".

"the Guitar has a lot of resonance" or a variation of that. If it's an acoustic, that's a great thing...if it's a solid body electric...resonance robs sustain (a scientist proved that, I'm not going to argue about it with anyone). Now if you have a "resonant" guitar and you love it....that's great. I'm not telling anyone whats right or wrong. Buy whatever you like, just stay out of my pockets...and of course, get of my lawn ;)

Anything butter-related is a bad idea, clogs my arteries just thinking about it. Recently bought some butter-flavored cooking spray and gagged from the smell the first time I used it. Butter has nothing to do with guitars.

At first I wondered how "icepick" could possibly describe how a guitar sounded. But now I get it and actually like the term.

    My annoyances are in Dutch.
Probably not so relevant on a forum where the main language is English, but I’ll share anyway, because it itches me when only thinking about it.

“verkeerd in nieuwstaat”, No, it’s “verkeert”! I don’t want it if something’s wrong with it!

“rare gitaar/pedaal”. Don’t use the term rare in a Dutch sentence. It means “weird”. I’m not looking for weird guitars or pedals. If you mean rare in English use the Dutch word “zeldzaam”.

Yes, I’ve turned down deals because of this.

Referring to the output jack on an electric guitar as an input jack.

Jack goes in, guitar signal is alternating. Though not 100% correct, input seems 75% correct.

"The best . . ." When it comes to musicians or instruments, "the best" is generally in the eye (or ears) of the beholder. "The best" means very little to me as an absolute. I might, however, take a look and see if I agree.

How about, when you think you've found that special part, and, after reviewing the photo you asked the seller to send, you discover, the part is everything from close, to totally wrong, you then, re-contact the seller, advise him of the discrepancy...and he says...IT IS WHAT IT IS...

I'm grinding my teeth to powder just thinking about it.

And as far as ''Buttah'', if the guitar is not making your fingers bleed, you're either not trying hard enough, or playing the wrong guitar.

    Another annoyance in Dutch.

    “Gebruikssporen”, sure, no big deal.

“”Gebruikerssporen”, ieuw, gross, just wipe them off already.

Not a term but a typical seller line from Reverb or eBay: "Mint condition except for ..." If there's an exception, it's not mint at all. Otherwise it could describe anything. The guitar is in mint condition except it's missing the pickups, strap buttons and neck. Also the lower half of the body.

    "Thanks for helping out."
"No worries." - what does that even mean?!
