Tough crowd tonite.
I wonder if it would be better if the horns were pointing the other way?
Gretsch Custom Shop G6136CS Steerhead Falcon Ivory Masterbuilt By Stephen Stern w/Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard (Serial #UC20122071) Chicago Music Exchange.I can't download the page.
Nah,it's not for me,even at 10% of the asking price.
Horn holes, really, they're turning them into cartoons ffs.
Just give me a regular Falcon thanks.
Its a NAMM piece. They ran a video from the custom shop onInstagram this week. Cant share it here unfortunately. The Gucci Penguin was gorgeous but this one misses for me. Its those horns. I like my f holes to look like f holes.
Fugly. Hard pass.
Just because they can... doesn't mean they should. I would actually love the aesthetics on that guitar if it just didn't have sound-holes at all.
Ugh... back to the loch with ya, Nessie!
I kinda get the feeling it's not well liked.Well, someone paid $11,330 for it.And I bet there's a big Cadillac with steer horns on the front to drive it around.Me,It's ugly as sin.
That made me LOL, thanks!
That was my thought too. It'd fit better with a DSW than a Falcon. Maybe the buckle tailpiece from the 70s Roc Jet.
As a loves-cat's-eyes guy on record as being no fan of traditionally "f"-shaped sound holes, I would definitely go steerhead if offered in a production model.
And, yes, pointing the other way -- as suggested by a poster above -- would also be cool.
Heres a link to the Gretsch Instagram account with a 17 minute video about the current Custom Shop NAMM projects. Stephen Stern is the "host", the builders show their pieces and talk a little bit about them. The highly controversial Steerhead Falcon is at the very end, but I suggest you watch it all!
TBH this thing is startin to grow on me the more I look at it. At least I can admire the creativity and I think it's very cool, that the Custom Shop builders have the opportunity to create their weird and unique guitars! I guess when you're making Vintage-style Gretsches all day, you want to be crazy sometimes...
Maybe the still photos don't do it justice. Either way, they will sell as many as they care to build if they can get the right artist to play it.
Oh, man! The White Falcon at the beginning and the Gucci are amazing! So is the leather work on the Moo Cow. If I had the $$ I'd consider any or all of them. Thanks for sharing!
Just had a look at the video and that Gucci 6130 is wicked, I would totally rock that thing, in saying that though going off Gretsch custom shop prices and Gucci prices I'm sure it's way out of my price range.
Sorry to everyone here who likes it. But that´s not for me.
Does not look like a Falcon or even like a Gretsch to my eyes. Jmho.
I don't like it either lol
