I doubt my old 83' Carvin would bring much more than that, but you'd have to gimme 3x $349 to part with it.
I think I paid $320 for this great playing 2006 Pro Jet, but I have about that much in the T-Armonds in it.

If you're a 335 fan, this Hagstrom Viking was a steel for under $500 IMG_20200811_105008_hdr.jpg

DeArmond 2000 single coils---right! Not double pole pieces, tho. Smaller, off center ones are adjustment screws for the magnet slugs. They're definitely bright, P-90-ish, Beatle-esque sounding, especially thru a Vox tube amp. If Gretsch had only put these into the early Pro Jets...

That sounds very interesting. I guess another Gretsch on the wishlist...

Thanks, it was a fun and a challenge putting together. The brighter trans red Virage 2 and super rare trans black semi solid 55 were the hardest ones to locate. Over two years I only came across one other trans black listed for sale and it was in Japan. Not apparent in the photo but it came with an Ebony board and natural faux wood binding.

There are a few models with those pickups, so you have a wide choice. Play one and you'll see.

I agree. I bought a Reverend this year for about $900. Not cheap, but I feel it was more than worth it. Great sounding and great playing.

DB3C1122-0FE4-44E7-9A77-8231C79ADD1D.jpeg I could strip this for parts and make a profit

took me a little while to dial it in but it is gorgeous. I think it cost 450 new. bigsby. Fidelitron. It punches above its weight

Yes. I've seen very very few too... My local shop had two when they were issued, I remember that it was the version with triple blade poles pickups, one was Natural, the other Dark cherry. Later, he had a Sunburst IIRC... I don't know the model names, but I remember that they were classy and well-built  and... Rather costy !;)

    A+!

GS has the 22 and 33 used time to time. Both double cut and single cut, so far always priced at 299. New they seem to have been around 699 - 899. Hence my #2 sleepers. Excellent guitars.

This is my 'inexpensive should have cost a lot more' guitar. G5420 FSR Korea build...plays like a 6120. If I didnt know, I would say I would have paid twice that. Awesome build quality and finish. Love this one. 20180415_202634.jpg 20180415_202603.jpg 20180415_202540.jpg 20180415_202440.jpg

The Burny (on the right above) is an absolute player. Sounds great, plays great.. up close the top isn't quite Gibson standard but then this cost £440 and more than gig-worthy. On sound and playability it beats any epiphone I've tried in recent years.

Squier, with the exception of the weight, I am blown away by how good this guitar is. So much fun to play, and after some time in the gym, I'll be gigging this too.

Burny = Fernandes, a Japanese brand. Guitars are labelled Burny for the Japanese domestic market, and Fernandes for the export models.

I don’t get the love. I had a Tokai Goldstar which was a Strat. Nothing special at all. I sold it to buy a USA Strat in 1989 or 90. I wouldn’t pay more than $300 for one. In fact I wouldn’t pay that unless I was going to sell it. I had an Ibanez Fireman (Firebird) same deal.

Today newer players don’t have the number of old quality guitars around to actually play so the perception of what a really nice guitar is has changed dramatically. It’s easier to get a cheap guitar that has a brand name on it these days, which is why you see big collections of the same stuff, but it’s harder to find a really great guitar for a good price - especially new.

Yes, and Steve Hackett is probably the most famous Fernandes player.

Very rare to find them in stores here in the UK but a shop I use often, and trust, had some, so I didn't buy it blind.
