Recently some members posted some cool ltd./special run Gretsches, which I always enjoy!
So show your guitars - limited editions, special runs for retailers/stores etc...

This is my 2019 Electromatic G5420TG 50's, which according to Gretsch "pays homage to the hollow bodies of the mid 50's": gold hardware, big headstock with matching colour, humpblock-inlays and tortoise pickguard, trussrod cover and pickup inlays (I swapped the BT Filtertrons with Tarmonds)

I have a special edition “vintage” orange 5420TG-59.
Not a limited edition, just special.
I modded the hell out of it.
The body, neck, bridge base, and a few bits of hardware are still stock though.

Here's my 2012 Electromatic Jet G5436T FSR with a special " orange flame " to it . Member @YaDaddy spoke with FMIC and was only able to find out it was a FSR for either Musicians Friend or Guitar Center .
Among other " limited Editions " I do enjoy collecting ( and not playing ) certain harmonicas . Here's a photo of a VOX Harmonica I have . Other harmonicas I have are the Sonny Terry , Ozzy Osborne , John Lennon , Billy Joel and Bob Dylan . I'm still waiting for a Hohner to come out with a Neil Young harmonica

    LH,

All one of one, just a few of my favorites, sorry, not all Gretsch, but I did save the best for last, even-though Frankenstein does bear Eddies, authentic hand written signature.

We've sold our home on Lake Simcoe in Ontario, within the next few days, I have to start thinking about packing everything.

I don´t have a limited edition Gretsch, but almost bought one of these.
The store just had one of these left and shortly before paying i noticed a big crack in the back of the body.
Cool looking guitar, but that was a huge no.

    TH,

    I built it, from scratch.

Eddie's Signature is on the back of the EVH Frankenstein Relic pickup.

I went as far as doing up a ATA flight case for it, as well as a flight case for the Andy Summers Tele.

I have well over 100 hours work in the Frankenstein, spread over approx. two months.

I was held up a few times until I was able to get particular detail photos of Eddie's original, I have over 500 photos, in three binders, I had to pay for three rolls of US 71 quarters, just to get one.

It was like finally finding a 61/62 Burns trem for the MY jet, when you find these parts, you have to pay the sellers price.

Fifteen years ago when I did the Frankenstein, Floyd's were not easy to come by, I had to buy three and sign a document, that I would not re-sell them as new in their original packaging.

Inside the center pickup route where the switch is placed there is a tiny round mirror, there are many details in the area of the pickup routes, and they all have to be there. Even Eddie's dirty finger prints in a couple of places, the tape, the blue paint smears on the back/bottom edge, the detail of the rear reflectors and on and on.

I have nowhere near the MSRP of the original Replicas, but there is lots of $$$$ in this build, same as the Malcolm Young Salute Jet, I'm ashamed to tell anyone what I paid for the first Burns Trem...number two, and number three were far less expensive. Had to have it.

    Best,

    BIB

Is a factory prototype considered "Limited Edition?" Especially if the regular production run is limited to 75 pieces?

As @audept mentioned, his 2007 6120-JR2BS is one of 13 ever made. I have another one. I bought it from @drmilktruck this past winter, but I still haven't laid eyes on it in person: it's at my mom's place in Florida, waiting for the pandemic to subside. There are another 11 out there somewhere!

    received_499929590944625~2.jpeg

Here's my 2014 red sparkle G5620T. It was a factory special run for Long & McQuade here in Canada and Sweetwater in the USA. I modded the daylights out of it: new bridge, new tuners, new nut, new pickguard, new truss rod cover, new tone pots, new magnet in the BT Filtertron, v-cut Bigsby, and a jack plate. (You're welcome, @thunder58!)

    IMG_20200916_124558.jpg

Last but not least: this one is a "special edition" only in the sense that I bought a regular silver G5235 and overhauled it so completely that I'm sure it's the only one of its kind. I refinished it in blue sparkle, routed it for Filtertrons, drilled it to add a master volume and individual pickup volumes, replaced everything but the neck, added a Bigsby, and gave it an armrest for extra comfort and bling. I still need to refinish the headstock and order the custom pickguard, but I couldn't wait to string it up.

I recently sold my limited lake placid blue falcon to get a custom drum kit (I’m still waiting for it to be built), but I still have this limited cherry stained 6120 I’m kind of fond of.

Well, since I am Lefty, many of my guitars are limited editions, not to say on-of-a-kind...:rolleyes:

I'll only mention the Gretsch range ;) :

    G5622TLH SRF GRN :

Only 10 built in LH in that color with the correct B7 tremolo, for Le Gaucher in Paris, and never issued in RH. It was also the 1st Gretsch ever issued in that color, all models included.

    G5420TLH FBL :

One of the 75 (or 78) FBL issued in LH for Anderton's UK. Bought 2nd hand in mint unused condition with Gretsch G6241FT case.

    A+!
