Some buddys of mine are in a band, GA20, the lead singer plays them almost exclusively. Mine went for like $50 new. They go for about $500 in mint condition now.

Yeah, I would always see random 60’s Japanese guitars in pawn shops and stuff for like $125-150. They always looked like they had a lot of character.

  4. C’mon, now. The other thread was phrased with attitude, which is in itself harmless.
Although its followed an earlier unfortunate “I hate…” series trend. Though even those weren’t terrible for the title.

Few, if any, are dissing anyone else’s choices or decisions by saying how they feel about it—for themselves. Though reading a lot of posts in succession can feel that way.

Your guitar, in particular, (as I said in the other thread)—is largely attractive with the belt buckle motif. It hangs together pretty well all tricked out. The fact that it is one-off further makes it interesting. Its not like anyone assembly-lined your treatments.

Im totally cool with the other thread too. Not offended. Im a big boy, dont need or want to have everyone’s approval. Certainly not digging for a fight. Sorry if it reads like im being defensive @Runamok, not what i intended. My phrasing was intended as gentle irony not indignant offense. Sorry if it didnt read that way. I hang out here to celebrate and share and learn, not to get “into it” with anyone! Its all good my friend.

  6. No. I took your phrasing in stride. Gentle chiding or irony is not an issue & shouldn’t be (oops. posted before I finished). Sometimes its nice to start with a declarative sentence, even if its hyperbolic.

I took you to be accessible & I have a favorable reaction to your work. The extreme close-up of the craqueleur had me pause, but I have to admit it works.

For example, the thread about PRS was occasionally strident. Doesn’t bother me, or my choices. If I buy one, its for me — not anyone else.

The goodwill auction site has them frequently. People bid to silly amounts on anything there bur I've seen these go under $200.

If Fender had made a sunburst 62 Pbass in their mim roadworn series, they’d never sell any other kind of bass. I suspect that’s why they didn’t.

I dunno. I took her to my Luthier, & he said it'd cost too much to fix to really be worth it. Replacing any parts w/ OEM would be difficult at best as parts would be very hard to find because I'd want them to be original.

It's not just the electronics, there's damage where the neck/fret board meet the body, (it's a bolt-on). The string height goes from about 1/8" at the 1st fret to 3/8"+ at the 22nd. Too much to wedge probably.

I've thought about it, but, I always come to the same conclusion, this is the way I found her, she's fun to play as is, tho she doesn't stay in tune well from day to day, cool acoustic tone, & yeah, I love the color. It tickles my Irish blood.

Here's a vid that gives a pretty good idea of the acoustic sound. Bessie's actually louder acoustically than my 2622T. I have 9's on Bessie & 10's on Gretschin'. (if there's a pop-up, just click not now to see the vid without logging in or signing up.)

Ya it's got volume. Slide may be a good choice if it goes out of tune alot. maybe heavier guage strings. I had '68 Harmony Rocket , pickups were stamped Jan 12 1968. Anyway , it had a bigsby and I played the heck out of it until it just fell to pieces. So Yea have fun with it until that day. Still a cool looking guitar.

This is my 10 year old Squier J Mascis signature Jazzmaster. Or rather, it was. I played the crap out of it in various projects, most of them rather violently outspoken. No deliberate relicing, just hard work, disrespect for nice things, acidic sweat and some blood that don't come off easy. Whats left now is just the body, neck and tuners. Wiring, pickups, pickguard, bridge and vibrato has been upgraded to high end stuff. The abuse and subsequental adjustment made the woodwork settle somehow and now it just sounds so nice.
