Today we put down Otto, our 15 year old Welsh Springer Spaniel. I've posted pictures of him in multiple threads over the years. He had a variety of physical and cognitive issues recently, although he was still comfortable, wanted to go for car rides and enjoyed his treats!

RIP good friend. I can still see you chasing the birds by our old house, with your ears flapping as you raced around excitedly. You gave it a good try but never caught one. I've rarely been as happy on a daily basis as Otto was when he realized he was going for a car ride. The best day ever if there was a hike involved too. He also told long sad stories when we got back after leaving him for awhile.

My condolences Doc on the loss of your beautiful friend Otto. I’m a Spaniel lover too, and have been through losing many canine friends.I have a 10 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. At 72 years old, I’m thinking he might outlive me.

Aw, man. So sorry. It's always such a tremendous loss. I've got a photo of my last dog I look at every day. Helps in a small way.

Very, very sorry for your loss.
Our lil baby is 16 and my days lately are just keeping him safe and happy till his mommy gets home ... yes he is our special needs child.
Somedays it is all I do and worth every moment.
The other 2 are nutz lol and we love them also.
Again so sorry.

The breeder's daughter told Mrs MT, "Otto lived the life all dogs should have." Out of 9 pups in his litter, only 1 is still alive.
I have no doubt the reason is the love he received and knew he had a family in a loving home. Otto in body may have crossed over that rainbow bridge but the love shared cannot wither or fade away and will always be with you.

I've been there with my dog Button and my 2 cats Buddy and Bandit. It hurts to love but that is also what make them family. Blessings to you doc and my thoughts are with you and you family....including Otto. ❤️

There is nothing worse in life than losing a family member. And I've had ALOT of that in the last few years. Humans and canines, souls all. God bless you all. Try to remember "don't cry because it ended, smile because it happened."
