Ah man! The Everly brothers was the first concert I’d seen. I was 7 and my mom took me. They were her favorite

Sad news. I never listened to the Everly Brothers much until Dave Edmunds & Nick Lowe released a little 4-song EP of Everly covers with their Rockpile album Seconds of Pleasure in the early 80's. That opened the door for me and I discovered just how great the Brothers really were. Been a fan ever since.

Take a Message to Mary is part of my standard repertoire these days. I don't think a week goes by that I don't play it at least once or twice.

RIP, Don - thanks for the music

So sad to hear of these great artists that I grew up with passing on...too many of them as of late. I absolutely loved Don and Phil and their great harmony. My granddaughter, through me, is a fan as well. Thanks for the memories Don.

1958 I was 9 years old and "All I have to do is Dream" was on the radio and I thought of a 9 year old girl with a pixie haircut named Georgia. :) I was easily distracted with the dreams of my new Schwinn Spitfire bicycle. :) I was fortunate see both the Everly brothers in concert once.

In their early days (during my pre- and early teens) The Everly Brothers were a HUGE influence on my music interests in general and the guitar specifically. I finally got to see them perform live about 15 (??) years ago at the State Theatre in Easton, PA. In spite on their ages, history, etc., their music sounded every bit as good as I remembered from their prime years.

Rest In Peace, Don (and -- again -- Phil). And thank you so much for so many things.

My 50’s....It was Marsha from down the street I had a crush on, my new Spirfire that I stripped everything off of, fenders, chain guard etc, and my big sister listening to the Everly Brothers. What a carefree time. Eat breakfast on a summer morning, climb on that bike and be gone all day and get home for dinner. You would never dream of turning a kid loose like that now...

Wow, RIP Don. These guys were a huge influence on me. I played that 1960 album to death for sure. I still have that album here somewhere.... and I haven't kept many really.
Totally the reason I can sing harmony and pretty much do with any song that comes on the radio. I never seem to sing along on the lead part.

The Everlys gave me early inspiration for playing the guitar. I finally got Bye Bye Love right by using barre chords, but I still haven’t mastered all their rhythms. Working on Claudette this morning (written by Roy Orbison).
