When I was young, used cars were advertised in the classified section in the local newspaper. There were listings for sedans, wagons, sports cars, and imports. There was also a space reserved for “parting out”. That’s where you’d find botched projects. There aren’t $800 in parts in that case.

My Squier Bullet telecaster is reliced from dozens of trips away from being bashed by camping gear in the back of the car. It’s sunburst too, might ask for $900, at least it’s got real wear and tear. It’s actually a great guitar.

I've seen some really cool reliced guitars but this definitely isn't one of them!

In Mercari they had this 5120, and somebody bought it. But only $350 so that at least was admitting that it's awful. But why?!!!

In order to do a decent relic job, you should know what a good relic job looks like. Neither of the 2 examples would lead me to believe that job was preceded by even giving a quick glance to a good relic job. I suspect what was involved was at least a 6 pack, a challenge, and a "Heck ya, I can relic this guitar with my eyes closed" . . . and then proceded to do it just that way.
