The other night I ordered a celestion cream 90 but it's been back ordered till mid September. I can do the wait and see routine but they offered to change my mind with a red. My thought process use the cream 90 for the headroom with the Allen but the red would work with both the Allen or Stapleton. Just want to get opinions.

If there is a particular reason you wanted the Cream and you have the time to wait, perhaps you should wait and get what you originally wanted. Just my opinion.

The redback is a neutral sounding speaker, so if that's what you want..........

Get what you want, not what they want to sell you.

I’m sure the Red is a fine speaker, but if you want Alnico don’t settle.

Just an update I changed the order to the ruby to put in Stapleton. I'll check it in the Allen for good measure and if need be I will order the cream at a later date. 20210603_122207.jpg 20201009_133700.jpg

So why the 35W Ruby instead of the 50W Gold?

It maybe just me but I found the gold somewhat brittle or harsh the ruby is mainly for the Stapleton but I'll try it out in the Allen. I'm still shooting for the cream 90 in the Allen at a later date.

The Cream is 90W... why the 35W as a substitute?

Two different amps one is 12 watts the other 30. The Allen right now has 6v6s in it I'll want headroom with 5881s

I have a 12" cream in my PRRI SE. The cleans are incredible and the sound is really big. The bottom end is strong, but tight and focused which is important in a small cabinet. The sound is big enough that I haven't had the amp past 4 with it. The break up tone is wonderful (it is a Celestion) with my Euphoria OD.
