So last year I quit the band I was in, Underwing.

I quit the band because it demanded more commitment than I could give due to having a full-time job as a teacher as well as a baby on the way.

I still had one final song left to record with the band called “House on Fire”.

This is the solo from that song.

It was a very difficult solo to make but I was very pleased with the final result.

I recorded the solo with my Fender American Standard Strat on the recording, but did this jam in the backyard to check out how it sounded with my new #1, the Gibson Les Paul Special!

I used the Strymon Iridium as an amp sim on the Marshall mode and used my 1981 DRV to “drive the amp”.

Would love to hear your thoughts on both the playing and the tone!

Sounds good to me, playing and tone wise. I get a bit of a Doug Aldrich vibe. :)

I’m very happy with my choices!
Right now I’m staring at the baby call ready to do some silent practicing with my HX Stomp while the band is having a gig in another city and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Well, if you were really committed to your music you would have quit your job, your wife, and the incoming baby on the way. ;)

Would love to hear your thoughts on both the playing and the tone.

You have a real talent on the guitar awesome solo, awesome tone and better than many professionals

JUST YANKING YOUR CHAIN WITH THE FIRST COMMENT. You definitely made the right decision about the band. When all the smoke clears and you turn around next week and are suddenly 72 years old and still a musician. You will know you made the correct choice of putting your family first. At the end of the day if you don't have family you have nothing. ROCK ON YOUNG MAN!!!!!!!

PS Welcome to the forum. If you stick around you will eventually get my humor. Don't know why I say that to you, my wife doesn't get it and she's been married to me 52 years. :)

I totally understand your decision. Having been married less than a year, I turned down a gig with a well known musician's band. Worked out in the long run---we're hitting our 45th anniversary in September. Couldn't see getting married just to get divorced as I'd be away 3/4 of the month.

    Hi and welcome to G-T.

I love this style of heavy rock so I very much enjoyed your solo - great work.
Can't say much about the tone cos it is a youtube video and nothing sounds great on youtube imo.
Please post more of your fine work :)

I really like your tone and playing - could go on and on. And that you put your priorities in the right place is commendable. Takk!
