So Long & McQuaede have a demo model of this available for their Black Friday sales. I am eyeing it, but was surprised to find out it's the same model number as the "Rat Rod". Are there are differences other than cosmetic ones? Is the "Rat Rod" a newer branding perhaps?

Is there anything about this model that should make me steer clear of it? For context, I already own a MIM Strat, an Epi LP, and have a Center Block Gretch w/P90's on layaway. Here is the one in question:

It is a Rat Rod, no worries. Just a different finish than you may be familiar with.

A good friend owns one just like that one (white/casino gold). It’s a beauty and he loves it!

    I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!!

I am a fan of the 5410T guitars, only had great experiences with them and would love to own one, the white and gold is my pic out of the tri 5 ones, it looks so much better in person then in the pics, good luck with your decision.

I have just bought the flat black model, heard great things about them and the reviews are great. Can't wait to get him!

Hey guys, figured I would give you an update. So I went in and tried the guitar, and it really is a beaut. It turns out it wasn't a "demo", it had suffered mild damage in transit, which the store's tech had repaired. I think there was a scratch somewhere up around the 1st fret, but the repair job was flawless, I would never have noticed it.

BUT, I was a little underwhelmed by the pickups to be honest. I liked almost everything else about the guitar, but I think I just don't like the sound of the Blacktop Filtertrons. I played a Jet that I really liked before that had the same pickups, and they were the turnoff on that as well. It's strange, because I really like the Blacktop BROADtrons, but for some reason, the sound of the BT FT's just comes off as...flat and uninspiring to me. I may go in today to try a couple of pieces out again (they have a gorgeous Epiphone Inspired by 1966 Century with P90 that would make you cry), and if I do, I will try the Gretsch again if it's not too busy there. Updates forthcoming!

Thanks! I always have fun going to the music store! I have my Gretsch on layaway there anyway, so going in to "make a payment" provides the excuse!
