I saw it online last night. Its at the GC near me. So I called and put a deposit down, i'm out of town until Monday so I put a deposit down so no one else buys it. Still not 100% I'm going to buy it but I'm more than likely going to... A. Its $1500 plus tax, I have $100 gift card for there... I plan on trading in a guitar I cant sell, so I will get that money and they will take an additional 10% off. So with taxes i'll ill be paying i'm guessing $1250 out of pocket. It comes with a case. It has TV jones pickups. Is that a fair price? I pulled the picture from their website but it will probably be pulled soon because I just put a deposit down.

Prices like this are not available in U.K. Do yourself a favour and complete this deal. This is the best guitar for this money, you will not regret it

There's a similar black and silver guitar here but the website says call for price.

If I'm down that way when the store is open, I'll drop by.

That price seems really, really, really low to me.

You would think that Guitar Center would take more than one photo of guitars they are trying to sell online.o_O That said, $1500 for a black Hot Rod is a great deal.

Yeah the picture sucked. I called once, I tried asking the guy what pickups it had. I thought they where TJ Jones but you can't really tell from the pic... He literally refused to go check the guitar, he said it would he couldn't tell what kind of pickups it was if he grabbed the guitar. I said "I see the writing on the pic online but I can't make it out, so I know you could tell me but whatever" and hung up. I called back a minute later ready to tear into that guy and tell him how much he sucked (and Im not like that but he was that rude), but another man answered and was great.

The one here has a silver back, I imagine this one does, too?

Wait, it's not silver...I thought I saw a silver one...

Well I guess I wont bother., then.

I'm not sure, thats the only pic i've seen. I haven't been able to see it in person. I wish it was the flame top like that, but for the price i'm getting it for I can't complain.

Does anyone know if those are just the TV Jones or the TV Jones Setzer sigs?

Hold on, the $1250 seems too high unless you have a very low trade value on that guitar. Here is what I understand from the original post.

0.9 * (1500 + tax - trade - 100) = 1250
0.9 is the ten percent discount after the $1500, plus taxes, minus trade in, and minus $100 certificate.

Assuming Boston sales tax of 6.25%, that's $93.75.

0.9 * (1500 + 93.75 - trade - 100) = 1250
then
0.9 * (1493.75 - trade) = 1250
divide both sides by 0.9
1493.75 - trade = 1388.89
Leaving . . .

Trade value of = $104. Does that sound right?

Its selling for $1500 plus tax. Buying with tax its... $1593.75. I'm trading in a Sterling Music Man Sub AX4.. Good guitar but dime a dozen. I'm guessing they will give me $75 for it, but i'll get 10% off the $1500... So $1593.75-$225(if I get $75 for the guitar) is $1368.75. I have a $100gc.. take that off too. Call it $1270 give or take $20.

The Setzer Hot Rod is a great model, IMHO. I love the simplified control set and the whole notion of a stripped down instrument. I have a G6119-1959, which is a single pickup Tennesseean to which I added a neck pickup and rewired it to have the same minimal controls as the Setzer Hot Rod. It's a great instrument and finds its way to a lot of gigs.

It's hard to imagine $1,250 not being a very good deal, but play it thoroughly before you take it out of the store.
