Well over past 8 yrs I had more than 20 recordings in various stages of completion. One good part of the virus is I've now got time to finish them off. And my collaborators do too. So here's a Neil Young tune I've always loved and played live many times. There's been debate over the years about the meaning of Neil's cryptic lyrics but it's very clearly an anti violence song to me Two guitars used on many different guitar tracks. My SG got honours for the verses and solo 2. My Jet 6131 was used for the main riff and solo 1. A mic'ed Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 again shows it's super versatility. Mark Sweeney vocals. Mike Dennis drums. I play 2 guitars, bass, backing vocals and recording production. https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14109538
thanks LnL but.... the orginal songs I've written are not good enough imo and no-one wants to play them I'm a bit of a perfectionist and don't think my original work is worthy atm - maybe one day. Anyway, my recording buddies and I are happy to do these covers. And it has the advantage of teaching me recording production and music arrangement skills so that I can successfuly record orginal works in the future ........if they ever get good enough to deserve it
Coincidentally, I've been working out in the NSW mid-west this last week and Live Rust has been on heavy rotation on the car CD player. This is one of my favourite Neil Young songs and you've done a fine job here. Congrats mate!
Maybe you could record a few acoustic versions and throw them up here, I understand you would be your harshest critic but I'm sure everyone here would appreciate your original work.
thanks Penquin - he's got quite a few live recordings of Powderfinger. Live Rust is one of my fav live albums. Neil's "Weld" is another fav made in the 90's during his grunge period
You are a humble man, Waxhead. I really think that recording your own stuff will be fun an very educative, too. Let your fellow musicians have a share in the writing process. I believe this could be very fruitful.
Powderfinger has made return to #2 on the soundclick charts but I think it's time to release a new recording - stay tuned
You’ve done a good job there, I love Neil Young! Powderfinger was also a band at one time as well, think I even saw them live, but don’t remember buying the tickets... Anyway, great cover!
yeah Powderfinger was one of Australia's best ever and most popular bands imo. I have every CD they made plus saw them live x4. They broke up around 2012 They were one of the THE best live acts I've ever seen <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
