A day over two weeks ago I got the umbilical hernia op. I put it off for many many months longer than I’m even fully aware of. I look back on things and think unknowingly to me this probably started small a couple years ago. I only identified it as a hernia earlier this year and only because I had a knot that I pushed back in and realized it was probably intestine or some such thing.
So as it turned out it was it got more routine to almost constantly daily to be shoving what shouldn’t need shoved back in.
I was gaining a lot of weight, always felt bloated and ravenously hungry at the same time, literally there were days were I consumed some 10l plus in calories! I have added it up. So topped out at 207, I‘m just shy of 5’8” so obese. Anywho back hurt all the time knees hurt all the time And the doctors told me an umbilical hernia wouldn’t cause that.
I can honestly attest it does but as I see it I Directly and indirectly. Tue bloating and constant hunger directly related as I see it. Why I am not sure but my guts just didn’t like being pinched and manipulated 15 times an hour.
Knee and back pain on the other hand indirectly. I explained to my surgeon as I see it I couldn’t or wouldn’t exercise anymore for quite awhile because it was just uncomfortable on my insides. Surrounding muscle got weaker back started hurting more and as my weight went up my knees hurt more. So much so I posted a new waking stick thread here because I needed help getting up down and my knee would just buckle out of the blue.
Since the fix I am it constantly hungry my sweet tooth is going away as I fight it off, my back isn’t nearly as sore and my knees are not hurting. Today over the last two weeks I have gone from pre op 207 to today 193.9.
it you have put off this repair consider how your life has changed what other ailments you may have and get it fixed! I am excessively happy it worked out so well. Now if I could just turn back the clock fifteen years I could more railway get back in shape! All I’m allowed for a couple more weeks are my deep squats with no weight. And it is actually helping a lot!
Good luck get it fixed!
