An internet war is raging over whether pineapple belongs on a (non-dessert) pizza. While there are lots of serious issues to fight over, this one seems trivial yet can get lots of people hot under the collar. (Much like guitar forums!)

What say you? Does pineapple belong on a pizza, Hawaiian or other?

If you select sometimes, when is that?

    (If you don't know what Splunge means - "It's a great-idea-but-possibly-not-and-I'm-not-being-indecisive!")

For me, it's Never!, but hey, it's a free world - pile it on if you like.

I'm in the pro-Pineapple camp. Hawaiian pizza, Thai Sweet Chili pizza, and BBQ chicken pizza are examples where that sweetness works well.

When at least half the diners are wearing luau shirts, it's okay. Otherwise, not so much.

Btw one of our local places offers peanut butter as a topping on its otherwise "normal" pizzas. It is an acquired taste.

Although I personally don`t count Pizza Hawaii as one of my favorite dishes I know quite a lot of people who love it.
I have no problem with combining classic receipts with not-so-obvious ingredients. Sometimes something irresistible comes out of mixing things up. It is part of the food-evolution. Some new combinations will stand the test of time and some will not.
E.g.: I was served a great rump steak with (bitter) chocolate sauce recently. What a great and unexpected taste. Or a Viennese Schnitzel with a sweet morello cherry-sauce. That was really delicious.

So my vote for Pizza combined with pineappel would be "absolutely!"

I'm all for pineapple on pizza... in fact, I'm ok with most things on pizza except mushrooms and anchovies*

*I hate mushrooms in all forms.....and though I've never actually had anchovies on pizza, it just doesn't appeal to me ;-)

It’s not my favorite, but my stepson loves Hawaiian pizza with pineapple, ham, and cinnamon. I enjoy it as a change of pace sometimes.

I’m all for trying unconventional combinations though!

I’m not crazy about onions or mushrooms on a pizza, but my one absolute is black olives. They are vile IMHO, and there’s no eating around them or picking them off - they contaminate the surrounding pizza. My wife loves them!

I’m ok with pineapple if the rest of the pizza is up to scratch and the taste is not overly present.

Not a cinnamon fan at all but you have piqued my interest... it sounds like it might play well with ham and pineapple. On the rare occasions I do Hawaiian-style I usually spruce it up with onions and/or garlic.

Sure, pineapple and ham - classic Hawaiian.

    A lot better than anchovies!

We have kept in touch with our (northern) Italian "daughter", whom we hosted as an exchange student last year. When I recently sent her a photo of a pizza -- typical American combo/heart-attack special -- she replied, "I wish yould see my parents' faces right now." :D

I watched a youtube video of a famous German chef yesterday. He is an expert on spices and revealed some incredibly interesting things about them. It is a real science.
He is using a lot of exotic spices like curcuma or ginger in his typical German dishes to make them more healty and enjoyable.
That`s a cultural kitchen-mashup that is obviosly working.

Nice when on vacation in Hawaii, especially if you're washing it down with Mai Tai's during happy hour.

Looking forward to a time, when we can do that again!

I'd eat pizza covered with worms to be able to fly unrestricted, post pandemic, whenever that may be.
