Which wires are HOT and GROUND on blacktop pickups with clips? Ive included picture of pickups bridge has a white and Black wire Neck has a Red and Black wire I assume Black is Ground? but you know how ASSUMING goes! ANY HELP would be GREAT!!!
Yes, sometimes the black is not grounded. I don't have the answer but I've found specific guitar models wiring diagrams online. Most are color-coded. But I would go to HF and buy their $4 multimeter. Anyone working on wiring should have a meter. I bought this one a few years ago and it works great. 7 Function Digital Multimeter (harborfreight.com) You're cutting the connectors off to hard wire them? Measure the resistance from the metal cover to each wire, that will show which is grounded.
i want to use the clip on the filter-trons. so where you set meter at? what readings will show ground?
BLACK IS GROUND i touched probe to black and pup case it beeped! touched to red and white NO beep, so those must be HOT? Correct me if I`m wrong, please!
Yes, if that is a continuity test (must be). Do you know how to use the ohms (resistance) function? That is what you use to check the pots and other components. I also check the pickups on my guitars.
