New old dog day. My last dog Zack died three years ago, he was 19 when he died. He was a rescue from a back yard breedder. Today we adopted another yorkie. She’s 13 and precious. She took to our house right away.

So good to hear that you got a new dog, Nick.
We lost our beloved Boxer a year ago and I have to confess that getting a new dog is a big decision in our case.
Sadly the mental health of my wife does not allow searching for a new puppy. At this point of time she is not able to take care of the most simple things like eating and drinking and I am on a 12 hour job by day. So as much as it would helpful for her therapy it would be a risk for an innocent creature.

Awesome! And thank you for adopting an older dog. They are often overlooked and deserve to live out their lives with love and attention.

I wanted an older dog. This poor things last owner wanted to put her down and the vet wouldn’t do it so he called a local shelter and that’s how we got her.

I feel like dogs know that you rescued them and I think they are grateful. With so many dogs that don’t have homes my not rescue one.

    Great lookin pup, Nick!

I adopted a 7 year old retired breeder dog back in January and she's just amazing. Older dogs are the most. Puppies are cute and all, but they're also rambunctious and usually a lot of work. An older dog will hang out on the couch and watch movies with you, or go on a stroll if you're up for it, but they just kinda dig being with you. And I totally agree that they definitely know that you adopted them and they're grateful for it. I hate to be trite, but that whole "who saved whom" thing is absolutely true. You save their life and in turn they make yours SO much better!

Congrats on the new buddy. Here's to many great years of friendship!

At home, we have Cats - or more precisely they adopted us, as they came on their own....

As @wabash slim (IIRC) humorously wrote some years ago on a post about that subject : "Dogs have masters, Cats have servants". :D

    So true...

    A+!
