ok fine, so I did post in the new member intro forum, but then i see two NGD!! thread and thought meh..why

So please see below my new old stock (its a 2017) G6609TFM in Bourbon.. :)

    and a couple of questions..

    a) the bigsby arm has a loose piece of black tubing on it.. is this heat shrink?..if not, where can i get some suitable "handle" cover

    b) any tips for stringing the string-thru bigsby other than one string at a time, slow and careful?

    thanks, Ian

Hi Ian. Welcome. Beautiful guitar. I, like some others here, dislike the arm tip protection and remove it. If you like it go ahead and keep it on. I'm a relative new owner of a Gretsch with string-thru Bigsby and have only done one string change so don't have any suggestions in that regard.

    Nice guitar, she is beautiful.

Most of us just chuck the Bigsby Arm Condom in the trash. I don't even know why they include it as it doesn't seem to have a purpose. Apparently, someone likes them though.

What special instructions do you mean? You put the strings through the holes and string it up. Don't sweat about taking all the strings off at once. You won't hurt it unless you leave it like that for weeks and even then, you probably won't hurt it.

There is nothing magical or hard about stringing a Bigsby guitar.

That's a nice finish on that flamed top, gratz

I'd say your good on a string through bigsby, the string can't go anywhere. The "hard" ones are those where you need to keep the string end on the peg.

Are there a lot of ppl that keep the bigsby cover? First thing I pulled off when I came home from the store. :p

I always assumed that they were intended to prevent damage in transit and are expected to be disposed of.

That is what I always thought too. They don't fit snug enough to be of any use.

Congrats on the gorgeous new Gretsch, Mystic38! That Bourbon stain is one of the nicest colors I've seen.
