Saw this one pop up in a local shop. Now I’ve never been a big headstock Strat guy. But the fact it was 1978(the year I was born!), and my fave Strat color combo won me over. So I went to see it and discovered it was a)lightweight(shocker for a late 70s Strat!)and b)a fanTASTIC playing guitar meant only one thing: NGD! All original except the nut and the brass bridge saddles. Long-term goal(own a Fender from ‘78)realized. :)

Birth year equals super good vibes. That’s a great idea. And I actually like both the small and large headstocks. Congrats and don’t give up this one just because it’s got some years on it. ;)

Edited... I’ve still got a couple years on you. So jokes are in good fun. That’s a really nice looking Strat.

Ok I hate you for two reasons:
    1) you were born in 78 and that makes me 12 years older than you
    2) it’s a beautiful guitar and I want one.
    Congratulations great guitar

Lol. I’ll turn 42 in two weeks. The age Elvis was when he died. Kinda weird, I’ve always marked my age by the Elvis phases.......and now I’ve almost reached the point where he died, I realize how truly YOUNG he was. Sad.

Anyways, so far in life I’ve discovered that it honestly just keeps getting better. I hope that trend continues a long time.

Totally! This is actually Olympic White, but it’s wild how banana yellow they get. I love it.

This one will stay for sentimental reasons, in addition to being a fanTASTIC Strat! And I love Strats. :). But it really is kind of a dream come true, always wanted a good ‘78. Turns out I found one.

I’m not a strat guy, but if I had one it would have a big headstock!

ps, my ol’ lady is a ‘78 baby. I always joke that I have a thing for older women and now I GOT one!;)

yeah, and when you adjust the intonation on the bridge, you actually are "compensating."

Very nice strat, I really like those naturally aged guitars a lot better than new models that have been reliced.

You are so right - despite any bumps in the road, the ride keeps getting better as time goes on. :)

Congrats on your birth year find - that's a really good looking Strat!

I would love to get a '63 Strat (my birth year) but Pre-CBS Fender Strats and Telecasters are out of my reach. Instead, I'm on the hunt for an affordable '72 Fender guitar since it's my wife's birth year. I'll most likely get a Competition Mustang but there are some affordable '72 Strats and a couple of '72 Teles out there.
