Just got this cool guitar from a great fellow on the other Gretsch forum. It’s a Phantom Guitarworks Phantom IX. The first 3 strings are paired like a 12 string and the lower 3 lower strings are unpaired. It gives you all the great jangle, and rock and roll, of a 12’er without losing the clarity of the bass strings.
What a ton of fun, and a unique guitar to boot. Here it is amongst new friends.

Congrats! I like the idea of doubling up a couple of strings on a guitar.

That Phantom 9 seller would be me -- and glad the 9 string found a good home. The Voccoli 9 still available ... I am getting off these 2 just because I have been done with 25.5 scale for some time now. I have plans for a 21" scale Rickenbacker 9. I still have the religion on these -- just have to make them work for what I do now.

FYI 23" scale is as long as I go. I bought a 23" scale Gretsch Rambler last week. It's also going up for sale because I find for what I do the HiLo Tron version of the Rambler will be better than the Dynasonic version I have. I know in general the Dynasonic pickup is highly preferred over the the HiLo Tron.

Well I may go on a blowout Rickenbacker binge, love that 21" scale!!! =-= so the Tele 9 -- which like the Phantom is really one of a kind -- is $750 plus shipping for this Brooklyn boutique build, and the '57 Rambler w/ Dynasonic $1125 plus shipping.
