Hi folks, first time poster here with a 2013 Duo Jet in Caddy Green. Being precise, the actual NGD happened this January but I was not really able to play it because of its Melita bridge. The right hand position was extremely awkward, also 1st string used to jump out of the slot when finger picking. So I swapped it out for the Tru Arc and wow! After that I was able to have a real NGD, and recorded this vid. Actually it's a finger picking instrumental in Chet Atkins' style but it also demos the guitar (at least the neck pickup...) since the only effects used are a pretty transparent compressor, delay and reverb:

Otherwise the guitar is completely stock. There's a lot of good words about Seymour Duncan Dynas but I enjoy the sound too much to consider throwing 400 EUR on pickups (let alone availability...). Or is it just honeymoon?

Sounds good! No reason not to be happy with that sound and those pickups. You can always change your mind later, but if you're happy, then going down the rabbit hole of pickup swaps is not the thing to do.

Fantastic playing and the video was entertaining too! I've thought about a pickup swap for my 6128 w the stock dynas as well. I have a buddy that has been gigging a '54 duojet his whole life, and confirms that the duncans are the closest to the originals, and very close, at that. The stocks sound great though, so I see no need

Welcome, kpnash -- a fabulous guitar and wonderful playing by you!

I have the same model (2013 Caddy Green Duo Jet -- 6120 TCG that I modded with (1) TruArc bridge, (2) Seymour Duncan CS Dynas and (3) a "Chet wire arm" for the Bigsby. IMO, the S.D. Dynas were a significant improvement in tones. Expensive, but worth it. You might want to check into TV Jones Dynas. They were not available when I went for the Duncan Dynas. But I have them on another guitar and they are outstanding.

i really need a duo jet! i almost bought a vintage duo jet 30 years ago from matt umanov. i had only been playing guitar for 6 months and eventually bought a '67 country gent from mandolin bros. i could never get on with it and shortly moved on to a '95 nocaster from matt umanov that is still my main guitar. the gretsch that hit the sweet spot has always been the 6120 and i've had about four or five various ones before settling on a sslvo. i would love a jet with modern frets & tv pickups. no funds, YET!

Thanks folks for welcoming and kind words!

    A beautiful tremolo arm, @senojnad
I think today I actually was reading your post on the other Gretsch forum about Atomic Brain pedal ;)

Ah and of course pics or it didn't happen:

I was a bit worried the copper bridge wouldn't match gold hardware but looks okay... Apart from that, I also have an old 5129, Electromatic with DeArmond 2000 pickups, looks like I don't really get humbuckers. It sounds really really good for a 500 EUR Korean guitar! Also it's white, so a lot people confuse it with White Falcon, haha :)
