The Eastman Romeo SC arrived on schedule from UPS, a 3,000 mile trip.

It arrived in perfect shape. It is absolutely stunning, truly amazing fit and finish, Nitrocellulose and the most beautiful Ebony fingerboard. All components, top shelf stuff worked flawlessly.

The problem, my Tele crushes it tone wise. I’m down to a very small herd and each guitar must fill a different niche. As stunning as the guitar is I don’t need what it does.
For now my Eastman 386 I picked up for dirt cheap and had to do a fair amount of work on stays. It was leaving to make room for the Romeo but even the humbuckers in that 386 sound better than the Romeo humbucker.

Of course I could start chasing tone with different amps and pedals but I would rather play guitar than start down that rabbit hole again.

    The Romeo goes back.

Fully understand. Kind of an "all that glitters is not gold" scenarios.

If you went down the amp/pedal rabbit hole again, this beauty might just be "it" or not.

You're thinking like I am now. I have a nice little herd, and it'll take something really special to displace any of them. A hard "test" to pass. Neck feel, finish and tone with features I like, it's got a good chance.

No more rabbit holes. It's about the guitar as it is.

Best of luck with all of this.

Good to make the decision now and send it back, rather than try to fix it and end up selling it anyway.

That’s a shame, but it kinda looks like a hybrid of what you have already and surplus to your needs. Good decision!

If it isn’t doing what you want I don’t blame you for shipping it back. I’m personally at 5 guitars and with one in, one out, it would have to be a very special guitar to displace one of those 5.

If it`s not for you it has to go no matter how cool it looks. That`s a sensible decision.

Stinks that it won't work out, but good on you for being objective about it. I've reached the same point, except I still have too many guitars. Working on that 'problem' now.

I hate when a purchase doesn't do what you want.
To bad it had to go back. One of the problems with not being able to test drive before a purchase.
Good luck on finding a guitar to fill your void.

I am sorry to hear that, but you made a wise decision to send it back. Trying to modify a guitar with no sentimental value, can be an expensive slippery slope....you did the right thing.
When this happens, I always try to remember that good things come to those who wait.
