After waiting a few months to save up auditioning a few different guitars, buying and selling a few more, I think its pretty safe to say, nothing does it for me but a Telecaster, and nobody knows me like my wife knows me.

Ive been on the hunt for a no.2. A worthy back up to my AVRI62. Tried different guitars too, not just Tele’s, but my wife just rolls her eyes everytime she sees with me a different guitar. And then she keeps telling me, “you’re gonna sell that and end up with a Telecaster. The Telecaster is the only guitar you end up keeping the longest, if not, keeping it for good. “

I shrug her off, she doesnt know how good my “new” guitar is i think to myself. After the honeymoon phase, true enough, a Telecaster comes home, everytime. She wont say anything but her eyes tell a lot. “I told you so.”

Anyway, here she is. 2017 Fender Japan Traditional 60’s Telecaster in Daphne Blue. Im no stranger to Japanese craftsmanship. I never bought one but I auditioned 20-30 of these from 2002 up to until I finally found my holy grail which is the AVRI62. But this one feels similar to my No.1. Also lighter. These are so dangerously close to american quality for less money.

Apart from one small dent at the back, she’s very mint and pickups have been replaced with AV64’s which what drew me to this tele in the first place.

Congrats dG! I understand you when it comes to Teles... I really love them!

I do share that love with some semi-hollows and hollows, though.

And I agree, the Japanese Teles tend to be outstanding instruments - I've had a couple and was quite impressed.

Congrats, spectacular Tele! The irony is Japanese Fenders are so rare over here, the used ones often tend to be similarly priced or even more expensive than the used US models.

Tele’s are my first love! A Gretsch is still on my list! It was actually a tough choice as the G5420T in Cadillac Green cost just about $200 more bnew, and thats with a case already.

i went with this one as I really want the AV64 pickups and I also want to have money ready to buy a T-armond or TV jones classics pickups if I buy an Electromatic, otherwise I’ll just save up for a pro-line straight away.

its actually a color thats very hard to photograph. Its as hard as sea foam green, sonic blue, and other 60’s custom colors!

Congrats. I never thought I'd be a Tele player - until I played one. I do love the double bound thing too.

the funny thing is, she told me to get a Telecaster the first time I told her I want to get a back up and rebuild my collection.

i didnt listen. Time spent, effort in buying and selling, and money spent, I still came around and bought a Tele

but I thought this is a way for Fender to bridge the gap even closer from Mex to US. They’re everywhere here in Oz. I guess these are marketed for specific countries?

the tele is home for me! I used to be a 52 tele lover. When I first tried a tele, i wanted to be a purist, traditional. What they made in the 50’s is what I want. Until I saw a 62 telecaster custom, and instantly i fell in love with it. So now, bindings on a tele is what I always chase and look for.

Congrats! That's a beauty for sure!!

I recently got a Daphne Blue double bound Tele myself. I've already posted the pics here, and I don't want to hijack your NGD thread - but again, that's a real looker!!
