Went out today, looking for a cheapie with P90s or Filtertron sttyle pickups. I ended up trying 3 guitars,
    a Gretsch G2622T-P90 Streamliner, in Gunmetal; a Gretsch G5232T Electromatic and a Vintage V100P
ReIssued W/W90 (V100PBB). All 3 were under £500 and I have to say, were excellent value, with good
build quality and very decent finishing. The first to go was the Streamliner. It had decent P90s on it but they
didn't quite stand up to the other 2 guitars. Also, I only had to look at the Bigsby and the guitar went way out of
tune. It was pretty close, between the Electromatic and the Vintage. I preferred the wider fretboard on the
Vintage but it was the Blacktop Filtertrons on the Gretsch that swung it for me. Apart from a little, buzzy rattlling, from the bridge/tailpeice area (any ideas?), it sounds really good, both clean and with some dirt.

Good choice, brother! I got me a G5232T in Midnite Sapphire. I replaced my bridge with a Compton and gonna try out an ABM 2400 roller.

If you have any issue with the bigsby being too tight or tuning issues, you can remove the tension bar (i did). I like it better and the strings don't pop out of the saddle.

Thanks. I did the same with another semi I had and it not only improved the trem but also made the whole guitar more resonant. So that tenson bar may be leaving the guitar very soon.

Very nice looking guitar you got there. I would seriously consider a Compton or tru arc bridge, no rattles and improved tone.

Congrats on a fine looking G5232T. I replaced the bridge on my G5230T with a Comptons. Enjoy your latest.

Cracking looking guitar Grayn, where in the north west are you and where did you buy? I'm just over the pennines in Huddersfield and will be in the market for a new Gretsch soon.

I got the Gretsch from Promenade Music in Morecambe.
Sound Affects in Ormskirk also have some nice Gretsch guitars.

I know Sound Affects at Ormskirk, my daughter lives in Southport so I've called in once or twice. I don't know of any guitar shops in Morecambe, although I have been there several times with work and I have good friends there. The only shop I've been to in Morecambe is Gerry's Fishing tackle.....

    Congrats, very nice!

Get rid of the rattlematic. A nice Gotoh is 30 bucks. Opt to remove the outer bar of the retainer. It’s just a hollow tube, the axle is thinner but solid enough.

A few strategically placed drops of clear nail polish (nail lacquer on your side of the pond, I believe) will silence the bridge rattles. I’ve had to perform this operation on a few guitars over the years.

I installed one of Wayne Compton’s Jet bridges on my G5245, but the intonation just wasn’t quite accurate enough for my picky ears. I had to reinstall the lacquer-silenced original. On the other hand, intonation on my Compton-equipped G5420 is perfect!

Promenade is on the outskirts of Morecambe, on the coast road.
