Don't be surprised they shipped it. Even if they think they priced it wrong after you paid, it's yours. You have what is considered a contract. Your payment is for consideration and the consideration is the guitar. The contract is sealed. If any lawyers are reading this please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I'm right.
Actually, they only charge your card after they ship, so technically I haven't paid until they ship. So I'm not sure.

Congratulations. That’s a great score!

That’s a good legal question. I work in a credit card dept. At time of purchase it’s approved status. Lowers your immediate available credit so you don’t go over your limit. If the merchant hasn’t taken the money in 7 days it returns to your available credit. Doesn’t post to the balance until it ships as you stated. But it can still post to the balance even after the 7 day time frame when they ship because it was initially approved. So is it a legal agreement at time of approval (purchase) or time of shipping? I would think agreement but most companies probably have small print, etc. that may allow them to back pedal. To include canceling the order if not in stock or other reason.

5 years ago when I was on a 512X quest and a 5120 came up on Reverb for $250+$25shipping.
I snapped it up and the money was taken out of my account.
One day later the seller messaged me that the shipping was going to be $85. I told him the money has been paid and the guitar is mine per our agreement.
One day later I was messaged by Reverb saying my money has been refunded. I argued that when the money was paid it was my guitar. They said that the seller backed out and I have been "made whole" by the refund. The guitar had been resold with a $100 shipping cost. I was left with the choice of legal action or letting go.
I only go on Reverb for reference now.

One year ago this came up on EBay. $500 w/case with TVJ's and the original pups.

It took 4 years but I was "made whole"

There goes my "no new guitars in 2023". 😁

One night I was looking at GC and this came up:

View attachment 200831

Note the price. $320!!. Tri-fives are normally between $670 and $770. I order immediately. Not sure why they consistently claim that G5410s are Special Jet Solid body guitars? Obviously not.

They do list these with the same description:

I was sure my order would never ship when they figure out they are selling it less than half price. Condition was listed good but I could live with that. Week goes by and it still says "processing". I call them, they say it's all packed up and ready to go. Another 2 days goes past and now I'm sure it won't ship. But it did. Coming from North Carolina it took another week, while I'm curious to find out whether there's a different guitar in the box than in the pic.

Today finally it got here. And this is what I find!

It does not have a scratch, it's like brand new! Plugged it in, everything works. I am happy as clam. I always thought the tri-fives look cool, especially this color. 😀
Wow, what a score! 🤩

I think you are right. I've had a situation where I placed an order with GC but before the store had time to see/process it, somebody walked in and snatched the guitar. If placing the order is a contract, then I could sue them for the guitar I didn't get. 😆. Their lawyers are more clever than that when terms of use were written I'm sure.

That’s one of the pitfalls of Reverb for sure. You’re really dealing with a person most of the time with Reverb as an intermediary. And a bad one at that. You might have been better off though. That’s the type of seller that throws a guitar in a box with zero padding.

That’s a beautiful Gretsch… TV Jones too!

Congrats on the new Tri-Five, especially at that price!

I was tempted by one of the white/gold ones last year. Almost pulled the trigger, it was a pretty nice guitar. At a under $400 price, I definitely would have!

Enjoy!

I have seen this as sort of common practice when someone lowers the price of their item on Reverb. Wow, the price dropped $200. But the shipping went up $100. Still, it is a lower price than originally listed. 🤷🏻‍♂️
