I first logged into this forum in 2018, and thought that I had posted something, but it looks like I had not. So it looks like I need to write an intro.
In the late 1960's I had found a used Gretsch Corvette with case priced just right for me. The real allure of the Corvette though was that it offers upper scale access when played upside down. I had been playing right hand strung guitars left handed. Up to that time they were at first borrowed, and then later were really cheap pawn shop guitars. It did not even occur to me that left handed guitars existed, though they were probably out of reach of my caddying money.
The Corvette came home with me, and I played it in grade school and high school garage and party bands for several years. (A side story: when I brought the Corvette to school to jam one day, one of my 8th grade classmates became flustered and embarrassed when she saw it. Her name was on the headstock, she was Fred Gretsch's neice!) Of course, I wish I still had that guitar , but I eventually sold it and my Ampeg to fund acoustic adventures. After a long break from guitar playing, stretching through the '80's and '90's I started back into guitar playing with an acoustic then a left handed Strat strung righty and also did some bass playing in church,
Even during all this time, I ALWAYS felt that my guitar playing roots began with Gretsch, and wanted to get another.
Finding the right one to start with has taken some time. I just posted about my new G5623 Electromatic Center Block Bono Signature Model (RED) that arrived the other day. It is easy to play upside down. My Strat is going back in the case for at least a while!

The Corvette in the photo is/was not mine, but is of the same era. I later found another photo of Jimi Hendrix with one!

Welcome! Guitar Center has couple of used Corvettes on their site right now under $400. I recently got the 3 pick up version from them for $349 and like it a lot.

It was exactly this model that hooked me on Gretsch guitars, too.

Cool post, welcome to the fold! As a lefty that plays right handed, you have my admiration for playing guitar left handed strung opposite what most of us are used to. Had it suggested to me early on but it didn't feel right to me. You're in a rare club (inhabited by guitar greats like Eric Gales and the late Dick Dale).
Enjoy the forum, it's a good place.
