Brought this home over the weekend. A 2017 Gibson J-35 reissue. Now, I wasn’t specifically shopping for a J-35, but this thing just hit all the right buttons. When you find something that speaks to you, you gotta go for it. Traded in my old case queen Strat as part of the deal, happy with how all that went down. And this is gonna see way more use than that Strat has in recent years. Lightweight, projects like a cannon, lively and bright tone – rings out clear as a bell. You can really feel the body resonate when you play it. Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, rosewood board. LR Baggs electronics. Simple, clean details, nothing fancy, just a great sounding guitar. I’m sure some will think that pickguard looks a little weird, but I’m ok with it. All part of the vintage vibe, along with the button tuners, script and banner headstock. Like the original mid-30’s J-35, they only made these for a few years. I’m glad I stumbled across this one!
