Hi everyone I am new to the group....my dad gave me his Gretsch he used to use when he played in the 60s. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out its year and where it was manufactured. 20210222_203200.jpg

That´s an awesome guitar!! I´m far from being a vintage guitar expert but that looks like a mid fifties duo jet ... 1955 maybe?

Serial number makes it a 1955. I don't know what to make of the Bigsby instead of a G-tail though. An add on perhaps?. A real expert @Wayne Gretschzky will show up soon. Welcome to the group and nice guitar, especially the back story.

I don't believe Gretsch offered the Bigsby as a stock item that far back, but it would have been a common enough add-on. Doubt it would detract from the value of the guitar, as most would consider it an upgrade. Maybe Dad's still got the original G tailpiece in a box someplace, or if you're lucky, in the case.

That should be a fairly valuable guitar, btw. Similar ones listed on Reverb in that 6-8K range. And to answer the "where' question, it's right there on the sticker. Good 'ol Brooklyn, NY.

Do you play, because that one's definitely a keeper!

I'd say it's a 1956 ,cause it has the large truss rod cover ,Bigsby is an add on,no Jets came from the factory with a Bigsby.

Oh,and welcome to GT Joey, pretty cool geet, your dad had taste!:)
