    Hi to all,

Just got myself my first Gretsch, going through the honeymoon phase at the moment. This is a totally different beast of the guitar, will be needing your wisdom to maintain and care for it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, that is one nice start for your Gretsch collection. Many of us aspire to own a Penguin, I can't imagine what you will buy for a the second.
You will find that many of us own several Gretsch instruments, so if you are looking to keep your money in the bank, this may not be a great forum.

If you are looking for good people, great advice, and sincere friendships this is the place.

I am very happy for you, congratulations, great taste, and thanks for your sharing your great news with us.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I doubt I'm starting a Gretsch collection any time soon as I'm running out of room to store more guitars. Originally wanted a White Falcon (I assume most Gretsch owners do) then I saw this Penguin and it just gave me sleepless nights until I got it yesterday. Everything on it like the bridge, etc is so foreign to me so Gretsch are really unique in their own way but I have a question about the Straplock though, I can see the screw of the Straplock is not fully screwed in and seated in the Bigsby plate. The screw was backing off the body when I tried to remove the strap button to put my strap on, I tried to use a screwdriver to tighten it but it was so tight and I don't wanna destroy the thread or risk having the screw driver coming off and messed up the finish. I managed to use the strap button itself to tighten the screw into the body, is it supposed to be fully flush?

Should be flush but it's just probably the way it is ..... do yourself a big favor and buy yourself a set of Schaller Strap Locks . There worth every nickel and you won't regret it .

    Welcome to Gretsch-Talk, tastetickles!

    Congratulations on your new Penguin!

Those Gretsch strap buttons are not strap locks, and if the strap button is stuck on the screw, it was tightened too much and you will have to back the screw out of the wood every time you want to put on or take off your strap. It would be better to get the replacement Gretsch strap buttons, or as thunder58 said, get new strap locks.
