Maybe try getting a clear shot of just the fastener with the background cropped out and try a google image search. I tried just now but the results are mostly focused on the woven background.

Great idea but unfortunately it interpreted it as a block of wood. Next time I have the speaker out I'll try to get better pics.

Some version of a square, flat speed nut may work.
Thanks so much - flat speed nut at least brings up what I need just gotta figure out a size that will work.
So I can't find a flat speed nut that'll work, they're all too big for the brad.
But I took a chance on the expensive tolex and I'm glad I did. It's pretty much exact except slightly darker. The only way I could get a better match would be if I could find a way to simulate 65 years of wear and fading, and I have plenty of tolex left over for experiments so I'll be trying to do just that. The "pebbles" or whatever you call the pattern is exact and it's thin like the original. Even if I can't fade it, it's certainly acceptable as is.

No, a search for flat speed nut brings up exactly what I need. I have thought about adding what you’re talking about behind the piece of plastic that I’m currently using to hold the pin in place though.
