Hi All: Does anyone out there know anything about these new pickups? And how about the flame maple? I do not need a new guitar, but I must say Gretsch is making it hard for me. I'd made a resolution to only get another guitar if I sold one I already have, but the problem is I like every guitar I have and won't be parting with anything.

Interesting, new pickups and a C profile neck shape, not the usual U shape. It is a limited edition guitar not listed on the Gretsch Guitar web site. A GC only special run?

FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups? Interesting. Thanks, Andrew.

    Not another type of pickup:eek:

On the nine Gretsch guitars I am lucky enough to own, there are a total of nine different pickup types.

That is a beauty, luckily I don't need another guitar.

What the heck is an FT-5E pickup?

and FWIW it’s made in Indonesia (not a bad thing as I also own a killer Indonesian-made Epi Joe Pass).

    Wait a minute!!
Description says made in Indonesia but the photos show “Crafted in China”.

I’m not disparaging Chinese Gretsches - my Double Jet is MIC. Just curious…..

You're missing the line in the ad that says " Coupled with all-new FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups. " They look like BT filtertrons, but what do they sound like?

It is not the first time GC/MF have made a mistake on Country of Origin. AFAIK all the G54XX are now made in China, amiright? Used to be made in Korea but they switched.

Many of the Streamliners are made in Indonesia (both my G2622s were). I don't know if any of the Electromatics were ever made there.

I would rely on the headstock label more than the text in the ad.

I’ve never heard of a 5427 model. I googled it and nothing shows up. Never heard of trestle bracing on an electro either. I’d be skeptical about the accuracy of this add

available in midnight sapphire. this is making me consider breaking two of my guitar buying rules: nothing other than black, and nothing with a scale length under 25.5”

Production on the 56xx series moved from Korea to China a couple of years ago, but I think the 5420s are still made in Korea. I could be wrong, though. I'm surprised to see the "crafted in China" label on the 5427.

Yes the regular 5420’s are made in Korea. I bought mine back in July new for $805.00. Just my 2cents but i’d Recommend the Korean 5420. Make sure to call for best price. I got mine from Sweetwater. I don’t know what the difference in pick ups is but the blacktop filtertrons sound great.

Gretsch does offer a nice variety of colors, especially when it comes to the G5427 and G5420.

OMG another set of Gretsch pups with no info

These FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups are about the 10th different pup Gretsch are using now with zero info. I wouldn't take a chance on them unless I'd fully tested the guitaar 1st :D

they are okay. nothing to write home about, but not bad. the fit and finish on the 5427 are pretty good, though. BD9A81A7-DF2E-4B16-AE4C-7568D0E00265.jpeg
