Been looking at these for a couple days now. I had been in the market for a matte black Rat Rod... But that White/Casino Gold, Tri-Five is where I'm at now. It's just gorgeous, to my eyes.
I like the ocean turquoise. Interesting headstock inlay; I do not think I have seen that design on Gretsches before.
I might be in on a 5410 double cut. Stripped down. Setzerish. To me the rat rod by its name should look worn and rough. While everything under the hood is all go
I’m looking forward to seeing decent photos or even better, in real time at a store for the colors and to play. I’d been still considering a Rat Rod this year and one of these could be a contender. Makes me wish I had kept my Cadillac G tailpiece that I sold last year.
Gretsch noob here....planning on getting my first keeper Gretsch imminently (long story on a G5422TG gone wrong x2,) and I'm leaning towards the Turquoise/Vintage White "Tri-Five" 5410T. Couple questions: Is this essentially a Rat Rod G5410T with different finishes? Will check out some reviews of that if so to help make my mind up. What is the size difference between the G5410T and the G5420T? I've demod a couple of G5420T's locally, and I was not a big fan of the massive size compared to what I'm used to playing (Tele's, Les Paul, ES style Ibanez.) All in all, I'm really digging the color combos on these. Vintage White needs gold hardware though.
I believe the Tri Five is essentially the same as the Rat Rod except for the finish and headstock V emblem. Both are cool in my book.
If I didn't already have a Proline Gretsch, I would buy an Electromatic 5420. Fairlane Blue is my favorite color of the 5420s. I almost wish I had that NOW instead of my CAR Hot Rod...
